If you’re planning a post-Christmas visit, there are plenty of things to do in Aberfeldy in the Christmas holidays. Read on for a select list of local activities to liven up the dull ‘Twixmas’ period.
‘Twixmas’ is the name given to the often-dull time following Boxing Day, before New Year. The Christmas festivities are over, but many people still have family staying with them, and it can be a struggle to find activities to occupy everyone.
Thankfully, Aberfeldy has got the visitor covered, with a range of attractions and and eateries opening their doors to welcome Twixmas visitors in from the cold.
1. The Birks Cinema
Situated in Aberfeldy Town Square, our beautiful Art Deco cinema is a real treat to visit, and you can even take a wee dram purchased from the small bar in with you to the screening. From the 27th, the cinema has a variety of showings, ranging from popular blockbusters to concerts screened live. To book tickets, visit the Birks’ website.
It would be a pity to visit Aberfeldy in Winter without a tasting of Scotland’s national drink – to offer some internal central heating! Our friends at Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery have one of the most highly awarded whisky visitor experiences, and you can taste a limited edition Scotch whisky drawn ‘from the cask’ by your experienced guide if you so desire. Book online to avoid disappointment.
Ahem – yes, this is us! We are going to be open across site during Twixmas, offering delicious food in our cosy on-site Bistro, our huge selection of treats to purchase from the Deli, and even the chance to secure a space on one of our guided tastings of Scottish Cheese or Scottish Charcuterie (with accompanying wine or craft beer if desired). Plan your visit and book your tasting here:
Our friends at hugely popular local attraction Highland Safaris will continue to offer their scheduled experiences, along with their fab cafe, during the Twixmas period. Our favourite is the red deer centre, allowing kids of all ages to feed the deer that live on-site. Browse their comprehensive website to see what’s available:
We hope that you’ve enjoyed this highly edited run-down of what’s available to visitors (and locals) this Twixmas. You’ll never be short of things to do in Aberfeldy in the Christmas holidays, but have we missed any biggies? Reach out on social to recommend your favourites, and we will add them!
